According to the National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders, nearly 30 million Americans have an eating disorder, and less than 6% of these people are actually medically diagnosed as “underweight.” There is a lot of stigma around the physical and mental health impact of an eating disorder. To create safe spaces to have honest conversations, in-depth knowledge and compassion are key. On this warmhearted episode of the Baby Steps Nutrition Podcast, Argavan talks with Arin Bass, a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in Northern California. Her focus is on eating disorders, body image issues, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, anxiety, depression, family conflict and stress around life transitions. In her words, “when we empower ourselves by helping ourselves, we begin to feel the possibility of change”.
