We’ve heard it time and time again. Our kids need to eat healthy in order to be healthy. As nutrition professionals, we talk about the rainbow diet, eating a variety, of food, emphasizing fruits, vegetables, and other food groups. Our kids are growing at a rapid rate. That means they need to have an optimal amount of certain micronutrients in order to grow well. These key nutrients are: zinc, iron, calcium, Vitamin D, essential fatty acids (ie DHA), B vitamins, potassium and fiber.
