Episode 54- How to Set Screen Limits for Kids That Actually Work

Episode Summary

In today’s tech driven world, digital tools have certainly impacted our children’s lives. As parents, we are overconcerned with being overconnected. According to the Child Mind Institute, what parents are alarmed about is usually two things: the sheer amount of time their kids spend on screens, and their kids’ resistance to cutting back on that screen time. Getting them to put away their devices and come to dinner, engage in other activities, go outside or do their homework (without also checking social media and streaming TV shows) seems to be an increasingly uphill battle. On this informative episode of the Baby Steps Nutrition Podcast, Argavan speaks with Therese (Tess) Connolly, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Parent Coach who provides overwhelmed and frustrated parents of tweens and teens a 5 step RESET plan, with the tools and strategies to make a change in their family’s life. Her motto is, “the best parenting skill is right inside of you”. She founded the Parenting Reset Membership for parents who want on-going monthly parent coaching, to learn new skills, and get connection and support from other parents. She is host and founder of The Parenting Reset Show podcast. Argavan and Tess discuss the reasons behind children’s tech addictions (there are many factors!), her motivation to launch a masterclass for parents that’s focused on a “tech reset” as well as tools that parents can have in their toolkits to set limits that actually work. A must listen for parents of all children!
