Baby Steps Nutrition Podcast

Episode 47- The Profound Impact of Nutrition and Stress on Resilience in Children

Episode Summary

When we discuss learning, behavior and mental health in children, we must focus on nutrition. Oftentimes, that does not happen. We are doing a huge disservice to children and their families if we are not looking at the whole big picture. “Biology shapes psychology and psychology shapes biology”. In other words, it’s the intricate mind body connection. On this episode of The Baby Steps Nutrition Podcast, Argavan speaks with Jess Sherman, a Functional Nutrition Practitioner and award winning Registered Holistic Nutritionist, board certified in Practical Holistic Nutrition and a family health educator. Jess holds a masters degree in Education from the University of Toronto in Toronto, Canada. She is the author of the book titled, Raising Resilience: Take the Stress Out of Feeding your Family and Love Your Life. She’s actively involved with her online coaching program and virtual community called Raising Resilience. Argavan and Jess discuss how anxiety is related to autism, ADHD, ticks and other mood disorders and the role of inflammation, the key nutrients to focus on that many kids are deficient in, how the pandemic has impacted the learning and stress response in children and so much more. Tune in to this compassionate conversation that all caregivers can benefit from!
