Nutrition is particularly important for athletes due to the stress and high energy demands they put on their bodies. With nutritional deficiencies and other underlying health conditions, athletes are at risk of injury, poor recovery from injury and or surgery and decreased overall performance. Food is not only medicine, food is the essential fuel to perform at the highest and most efficient athletic ability. On this exciting episode of the Baby Steps Nutrition Podcast, Argavan speaks with Kylene Bogden, a board-certified Sports Dietitian who is highly trained in Functional Nutrition. She holds a bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, a master’s degree in Exercise Physiology and completed her accredited dietetic internship at Tulane University School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. As a former college athlete and Certified LEAP Therapist, Kylene specializes in nutrition for performance while taking into account food sensitivities, gut health and nutrient deficiencies. Kylene is currently the Performance Dietitian for the Cleveland Cavaliers and founder of FWDfuel. Argavan and Kylene discuss how nutrition impacts performance, especially at the professional level, the top health challenges that pro athletes struggle with and incredibly useful advice for teen and young adult athletes to maximize their performance and overall well-being.A must listen for fitness enthusiasts!
