According to the NCADV (National Coalition Against Domestic Violence), intimate partner violence accounts for 15% of all violent crime. On average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States. On a typical day, there are more than 20,000 phone calls placed to domestic violence hotlines nationwide. As with all statistics, the actual numbers are much higher. We, as a society, aren’t doing enough to protect the vulnerable and voiceless victims of domestic and workplace violence. On this episode of the Baby Steps Nutrition Podcast, Argavan speaks with Sabrina Osso, Founder and CEO of OSSO SAFE, a consulting company that provides training for residential properties, schools, and workplaces to promote personal safety and prevent violence. Through her own personal experience with violence, Sabrina is on a mission to hold public and private institutions accountable to have a positive impact. Argavan and discuss Sabrina’s personal story and why she is on a mission to raise awareness about how institutions are failing to protect victims of abuse. Furthermore, Argavan and Sabrina discuss the Osso Safe approach to diminishing and preventing home violence and how we can all take actionable steps to promote safety in our communities. An absolute must listen!
