Episode 26: Mom Life- How to Thrive (Not Just Survive)

Episode Summary

October was mental health awareness month. One group that is often overlooked in this discussion are moms- because women are often taught to power through, focus and prioritize others before themselves or what they're dealing with is "not that big of a deal". Whether you're thinking, planning on becoming or are a mom, we are here to discuss why maternal health absolutely matters! On this episode of the Baby Steps Nutrition Podcast, Argavan speaks with Alasen Zarndt, a Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach (INHC) from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition with a specialization in women's hormone health. In 2018, Alasen founded The Nutrition Doula, where she provides personalized nutrition coaching to preconceiving, pregnant and postpartum moms. Argavan and Alasen discuss the important role of food in nourishing the mind and body, including the impact on mood and behaviour, what pregnancy and post partum cravings tell us about underlying nutritional deficiencies and the difference between post partum “blues” and depression and when it’s necessary to seek professional support . This episode is for all the mamas!
