In a world where health and healthy are synonymous with eating well, exercise and self-care, the messages we are bombarded with often leave us feeling confused, drained and often the opposite of well. Why is this happening? On this episode of the Baby Steps Nutrition Podcast, Argavan speaks with Dr. Michelle May, a former family physician and certified speaking professional (CSP) whose own personal struggle with food and body image has fueled her passion to provide a compassionate and constructive approach to being healthy both in the mind and body. Dr. May received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Arizona State University and her Medical Degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine. Dr. May is an Associate Professor at Arizona State University. On top of her many accolades, Dr. May is also the multiple award-winning author of Eat What You Love, Love What You Eat: A Mindful Eating Program. We will learn about her transformative book and coaching program here. Dr. May is described as a “voice of reason in a food-abundant, diet-crazed world”. In this episode, Argavan and Dr. May talk about her journey from yoyo dieter to advocate and coach for pleasurable eating and the nourishing role of food and nutrition.
