On this fun and informative episode of the Baby Steps Nutrition Podcast, I had the pleasure of enjoying a mindfulness session in a redwood forest in Woodacre, California. I speak with Dr. Denise Belanger, the founder of Mindful Nature Practice, which is mindfulness mentoring in the outdoors for women. Dr. Belanger has over 30 years of experience in mental health and hospice nursing, education and mentoring. She holds a Master of Nursing in Mental Health from Oregon Health and Science University, a PhD in Special Education from UC Berkeley and is certified in NOLS Wilderness First Aid and CPR. Her mindfulness practice, which extends over two decades, includes silent retreat experiences as well as certified mindfulness teaching. Dr. Belanger and I discuss her journey that led her to where she is today, the benefits of practicing mindfulness in nature and advice for anyone looking to incorporate mindfulness in their everyday life to reap the benefits of a happier, healthier life.
