Baby Steps Nutrition Podcast

Episode 2: Period Health

Episode Summary

We live in a world where period taboos continue to exist, and often put women at risk of feeling shamed and/or suffering terrible health consequences. It’s about time that we all feel comfortable speaking about this important subject, especially since hundreds of millions of women are menstruating every day. I know as a healthcare provider, I want to advocate for the normalization of menstruation as a healthy, positive part of women’s life cycles. We are not only empowering ourselves, also our daughters to take charge of their own health. On today’s episode of Baby Steps Nutrition Podcast, Argavan talks to Nimisha Gandhi, a certified holistic nutritionist, certified Ayurvedic counselor and a certified Yoga Nidra teacher. She is the founder of Moon Cycle Nutrition, a private practice that includes nutrition and wellness, and specifically focuses on her passion, fertility and women’s health. In this episode, Argavan and Nimisha talk about what a “normal” menstrual cycle looks like and red flags to look for, even if they seem minor. They address the common yet concerning health issues that women face throughout their lifetime and what the potential causes are. They discuss self-care techniques, including best foods to eat during each phase of the menstrual cycle. A must listen for families of tweens and teens!
