Only until a few short years ago, Marin County, California (north of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco with a population over 250 000 and 20% under the age of 18) lacked emergency care facilities that centered on pediatric best practices. What this means is that in the past, when a child was admitted to a medical facility in Marin, the staff lacked adequate training and the equipment were not conducive to providing treatment in an age-appropriate fashion. In comes Cathy Taylor- a passionate and dedicated mama, hardworking and committed healthcare worker and a charismatic community leader with remarkable vision and foresight. We talk about how one woman’s personal journey led to a lasting impact on her community and beyond. Argavan talks to Cathy Taylor, a sonographer at the University California San Francisco (UCSF) in San Francisco, California. She is also mom to an amazing soon-to-be 10 year old boy. They discuss the importance of the Ouchless Care Model for all facilities and staff who treat young children, how local agencies and first responders are getting involved and why a positive experience in medical treatment for children matters so much in the present and the future. You really don’t want to miss this!
