Dr. Lerner graduated with a B.A. in sociology from Rice University and received her M.D. at the Baylor College of Medicine (Menninger Department of Psychiatry) in Houston. She completed her residency in psychiatry at the University of California, San Francisco, and subsequently the Foundations of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy program at the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis. Argavan and Dr. Lerner discuss the biggest health inequalities faced by women around the world, the various factors that impact women's access to healthcare and overall health outcomes, how technology and information impact opportunities and outcomes for girls and women, and the role of governments and policymakers to address women's health inequalities and promote gender equity in healthcare.
