Episode 10: Pandemic Life Through the Eyes of a Teen

Episode Summary

The entire globe was experiencing the pandemic at the same time. We were bombarded with headline news, flaming posts and comments on social media, the chatter and gossip of our social circles and on top of everything, the stress, anxiety, exhaustion and fear we were feeling inside ourselves. But what about our teens? On this episode of Baby Steps Nutrition Podcast, we are talking with Dr. Michelle Fazio, a medical doctor currently teaching family life to (or as most of us know it, sex education) at Good Shepherd Lutheran School in Novato, California where she works with 5th-8th graders. She has quite an impressive resume- which include a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and Medical Degree from Boston University Medical School. She has always been passionate about teaching in many sectors and working with many groups, including medical school students, inner city students and hospital staff and patients. In this episode, Argavan and Dr. Fazio talk about why the teen population struggled the most during the pandemic of all other age groups. Furthermore, Argavan and Dr. Fazio provide parents with insights about how best to connect with teens for an open, honest communication (humor is a key factor!) that reduces tension and friction in the parent-child relationship. If you are looking for a humorous, compassionate, no-nonsense and intelligent discussion about teen behavior during the pandemic, you’ll appreciate this episode. Tune in!
